Rios Pacheco & Alicia Martinez

Saturday only, Canopy G

Rios Pacheco is a registered member of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation with wide knowledge of traditional ceremonies, gatherings and songs.  He regularly visits tribal elders and enhances his artistic skills under their mentorship.  Rios learned beading and leather work starting at age 10 by watching his mother, grandmother and relatives Wallace and Hazel Zundel.  His apprentice, Alicia Martinez, has a natural interest in and passion for the traditional arts of the Shoshone people.  Rios has mentored Alicia in cradleboard making and they are now collaborating on an extensive beadwork project.
